Located right next to the legendary IMG Academy, El Conquistador is a classic Florida golf community. El Conquistador was initially developed in the early 1980s; since then, it has grown to 20 residential sections that are scenically arranged around a golf course and the surrounding forest patches.
Two of the neighborhoods within El Conquistador feature lavish waterfront estates. The rest of the sections are mostly single-family residences; however, maintenance-free condominiums and golf villas can be found in some neighborhoods as well.
Many of the homeowners in El Conquistador have ties to the IMG Academy. Some families settle here for only a few years until their children complete their education and athletic training. Quite a few homeowners become real estate investors who lease their properties to families who only intend to stay for a few semesters. Golf professionals, retirees, seasonal residents, and single professionals make up the homeownership of El Conquistador.
El Conquistador is a large residential community that is always in demand. Available listings tend to be sold rather quickly. Condominium units start at about $150K. Three and four-bedroom Florida ranch-style homes from the early 1980s may range between $475K and $610K, and the waterfront mansions may be listed for seven figures.
Aside from golf, other activities popular at El Conquistador include tennis, swimming and hiking. There are numerous parks and athletic grounds nearby, and residents live very close to the DeSoto Square Mall and its surrounding commercial district. Driving to the downtown districts of Bradenton and Sarasota takes about 15 minutes, and the same goes for Bradenton Beach and Longboat Key.
